Zava’s investment strategy has been engineered through the investment team’s combined involvement in property developments, project financing, structured financing and private equity transactions over the last 50 years which exceeds R70 billion. Part of Zava’s investment strategy is to lead, structure, underwrite and arrange mezzanine investments to an exclusive group of projects that meet the stringent requirements of the Fund in South Africa.
Zava will be involved with the development of the capital structures and negotiations of the terms of the mezzanine investments in order to ensure that each transaction is aligned with the objectives of the Fund. The Zava investment team has already established a strong pipeline of potential investments and will be able to negotiate terms that will generate the required risk adjusted returns with the required downward protection and desired socio-economic impact.
Zava’s investment philosophy intends to create attractive returns but have some downward protection from Government and property assets. Each transaction will be characterised by “quasi” equity returns, predictable cash flows and minimum loss in the event of default thereby providing exceptional risk-adjusted returns.
